Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Hecklers Spew Profanity, Flip Off Crowd During Another Allen West Town Hall

BOCA RATON, Fla. (By Tory Dunnan, WPBF) - Police escorted a number of people out of a town hall meeting Wednesday night -- the second night in a row that U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., held what became a heated event.

"I think they're a bunch of jerks," said Anne Dion after police walked her outside. "That's what I think about being forced to leave."

Trouble was brewing even before the event started. Sign-carrying protesters were asked to leave private property.

West warned the crowd about lashing out.

Police: Drunk man steals lawnmower

EAST LYME, Conn. (WTNH) - A man is facing charges for stealing a lawnmower from a school in East Lyme.

Police say 22-year old Nikolaus Trombley was caught on tape, stealing the lawnmower from East Lyme High School. Police say he stole it in the middle of the night and then took it for a ride.

Police say Trombley told them he was drunk and looking for a place to sleep when he broke into a trailer behind East Lyme High School. He was looking for the keys to the school when he spotted keys to a Scag Mower and decided to go on a joy ride instead.

Pope John Paul II's body exhumed ahead of beatification

Thousands gather in Rome; coffin will be placed in St. Peter's Basilica for viewing

Fans of Pope John Paul II are gathering for the beatification of the late pope on Sunday. Souvenirs bearing his image have become an instant hit, but some are concerned about the commercialization. NBC's Claudio Lavanga reports. (NBC News)

VATICAN CITY (msnbc.com) — Pope John Paul II's coffin was exhumed on Friday ahead of his beatification as tens of thousands of people began arriving in Rome for one of the biggest events since his funeral in 2005.

The Vatican said the coffin was removed from the crypts below St. Peter's Basilica while top Vatican officials and some of the late pope's closest aides looked on and prayed.

Those present at the ceremony included Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, his personal secretary and right-hand man for decades, and the Polish nuns who ran the papal household for 27 years.

Obama Administration punishes reporter for using multimedia

The President who has touted the use of new technology and social media is punishing a reporter for posting a cell phone video of protesters at one of his speeches in San Francisco. (Breitbart.tv)

(By Phil Bronstein, San Francisco Chronicle) - The hip, transparent and social media-loving Obama administration is showing its analog roots. And maybe even some hypocrisy highlights.

White House officials have banished one of the best political reporters in the country from the approved pool of journalists covering presidential visits to the Bay Area for using now-standard multimedia tools to gather the news.

The Chronicle's Carla Marinucci - who, like many contemporary reporters, has a phone with video capabilities on her at all times - shot some protesters interrupting an Obama fundraiser at the St. Regis Hotel.

Royal Scam: Why Media’s Excessive Royal Wedding Coverage Is Appalling And Wrong

(By Colby Hall, Mediaite) - The recent Tornado disaster in the Southern part of the country perfectly illustrates the stark disconnect between NY based news staffers and, well, the rest of the country. Over 300 people have died as a result of this catastrophe, but the cable news networks have all reported more on the royal wedding than the tornadoes in the South, judging by a topic search on TV Eyes. Don’t worry though, real-time reports on the devastation in the South could still be found…by civilians on the ground uploading videos and reports via YouTube and Twitter. Is it any wonder that so many Americans so deeply distrust the American media?

NASA Postpones Space Shuttle Endeavour Launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (FoxNews.com) – NASA has postponed the launch of space shuttle Endeavour by at least 48 hours, following the discovery of a technical problem with the Auxilliary Power Unit.

"Endeavour's launch has been scrubbed for at least 48 hours because of an issue with Auxiliary Power Unit 1 heaters," the space agency tweeted at 12:27 p.m. Friday. The soonest the craft could launch is 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Shuttle Launch Director Mike Leinbach confirmed the delay, and the issue with the heaters, which provide hydraulic power to steer the craft during ascent and descent.

More Backlash: David Letterman Considers Banning Donald Trump For His ‘Racist’ Comments

(By Colby Hall, Mediaite) - David Letterman and his guest Dr. Phil discussed Donald Trump’s recent allegations that Barack Obama was admitted into Ivy League schools despite being a very poor student. Letterman joined many other media personalities who have criticized Trump’s suggestion as being racist, though Dr. Phil defended Trump, saying that he’s “not a racist.” Letterman made then, perhaps the deepest cut, when he openly considered not inviting Trump back on his show until he apologizes.

Fox’s Kirsten Powers: GOP Benefits From Death Of Birther Meme

(By Frances Martel, Mediaite) - With one very loud exception, finding someone who deems the release of President Obama’s long-form birth certificate a proud moment in American history is near impossible. As Fox News Democratic analyst Kirsten Powers explained tonight, all Republicans have wanted was “for this to go away.”

NOAA Scientist Rejects Global Warming Link to Tornadoes

(By James Rosen, FoxNews.com) - A top official at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) rejected claims by environmental activists that the outbreak of tornadoes ravaging the American South is related to climate change brought on by global warming.

Greg Carbin, the warning coordination meteorologist at NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, said warming trends do create more of the fuel that tornadoes require, such as moisture, but that they also deprive tornadoes of another essential ingredient: wind shear.

“We know we have a warming going on,” Carbin told Fox News in an interview Thursday, but added: “There really is no scientific consensus or connection [between global warming and tornadic activity]….Jumping from a large-scale event like global warming to relatively small-scale events like tornadoes is a huge leap across a variety of scales.”

'A Slippery Character': New Details Emerge About Obama's Father

President Obama's father was a serial womanizer who had to be warned to stop his 'playboy ways'

(UK Mail Online) -
With a father like this, it is little wonder President Obama did not want to release his full birth certificate.

Though the proof that he was actually born in Hawaii may silence some critics, a new, rather more interesting side of his life has emerged - that his father Barack Obama senior was a serial womanizer and polygamist who government and university officials were trying to force out of the country.

Obama senior married Stanley Ann Dunham, a white student from Kansas, not only when he was said to have already been married to a woman in Kenya, but at a time when interracial marriages were still illegal in many parts of the U.S.

Documents obtained from the U.S. immigration service paint a picture of a man who 'had an eye for the ladies' and, according to his file, had to be warned several times to stay away from girls at the university.

Dem Congressman Dan Boren: Obama Uninformed About Oil and Gas Industry

(BOREN.HOUSE.GOV) - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren issued the following statement regarding President Obama's letter today requesting Congressional leaders eliminate tax provisions that are absolutely critical for domestic oil and gas production for thousands of independent producers across the nation.

"President Obama is completely uninformed about the oil and gas industry. The industry is not made up of just major companies. It is made up of small independent firms like those in Oklahoma that produce a vast majority of our domestic production. For every CEO of a major company, there are literally thousands of blue collar jobs that are affected by his administration's energy policy. It is a policy that is very inadequate and has left so many on the gulf coast unemployed. Americans are tired of empty rhetoric on both sides and want a real plan. If the President doesn't want to stand up and be a leader, then his silence would be appreciated from people who are trying to find solutions."

Specifically, the Administration is seeking to repeal the "percentage depletion" and "intangible drilling costs (IDCs)" tax incentives. The removal of these provisions would negatively affect domestic independents who utilize them to attract the capital necessary to drill new oil and gas wells inside the United States. It is estimated that eliminating percentage depletion and IDCs for domestic independents would reduce U.S. drilling by 30-40 percent, thereby increasing the nation's dependence energy from foreign sources. Furthermore, the major oil companies are barred by law from receiving percentage depletion altogether, as it only is given to domestic independent producers. The IDC preference is only available for domestic drilling activity, and as the major oil companies drill primarily outside the U.S., the domestic independent sector of the industry will yet again bear the brunt of losing this critical provision.

(The Superficial) - Olivia Munn appears in the newest commercial for Carl’s Jr. which apparently is 'The Ten Commandments' of fast food advertisements, necessitating it’s own behind the scenes/making of video. Granted, yes, Carl’s Jr. discovered there’s an amount of money that will get Olivia in a bikini to endorse fast food burgers, they were also able to afford that amount. Also, you know who else used to do Carl’s Jr. ads? Paris Hilton. I rest my case and now defer to the bikini photos for your clicking edification.

Obama Talks to Eva Longoria About Border Security but Not Arizona Governor?

(By Tabitha Hale, RedState) - President Obama enjoys presenting himself as a shining example of maturity, wisdom, and levelheaded leadership. Indeed, at yesterday’s birth certificate press conference, he told the pesky “carnival barkers” that it was time to “get serious.” Then, he boarded a plane to Chicago to film Oprah. To talk some more about getting serious, I imagine. He later put the birth certificate issue to rest once and for all by mentioning it at three fundraisers last night.

Today, he’s chosen to prove that he’s serious about reforming immigration by inviting renowned immigration policy experts Eva Longoria, Rosario Dawson and friends to the White House to talk about immigration reform. Yes, 'that' Eva Longoria.

Hey Bruce, you weren't born to run New Jersey

(By Paul Mulshine, The Star Ledger) - I know what Bruce Springsteen needs. He needs a hobby, like that nice British rock star Bill Wyman.

Wyman won fame as the man who played the most iconic bass riff in rock history, the five-note intro to the Rolling Stones’ "Satisfaction." But when he got up in years, Wyman left the band, moved to the countryside and started a second career as an amateur archaeologist. He even wrote a book on the archaeology of the British Isles.

Now that’s what I call growing old gracefully. As for the Boss, he’s got the farm in the countryside all right, but he clearly needs something to occupy his time now that he’s no longer cranking out the hits. Instead, he keeps pulling spoiled rock-star stunts like sticking his nose into politics.

Birth Certificate: Where Are the Indignant Questions to Obama?

(By Andrew C. McCarthy, The Corner) - I certainly get why 'National Review', among others, is pressing Joseph Farah, 'World Net Daily', and others who’ve been aggressively pushing the matter of President Obama’s birth certificate and, derivatively, questioning his constitutional qualifications to be president. And though I’ve never taken Donald Trump seriously as a presidential candidate, I also appreciate why the Republican Beltway insiders are gleefully joining the mainstream media in ridiculing him as a buffoon. But what I don’t get is why there is not more anger at Obama and that selfsame mainstream media.

One of the things Obama said yesterday was unintentionally striking. He contended that no one should ever have questioned his birth certificate because credible people who had seen it had described it in affidavits. Naturally, he didn’t mention why they were in the position of having to describe it in affidavits: namely, because Obama had refused to authorize production of the actual birth certificate, which he could have done at any moment over the last three years. Look how easy it would have been.

When I read in Dan’s post yesterday about how the White House was also releasing the relevant correspondence between Obama’s lawyers and the Hawaii health department regarding the certificate, I said to myself: “Okay, we are finally going to learn that there’s been some bureaucratic complication beneath all this intrigue.” But no: The request for certified copies of the birth certificate was (finally) made last week, on a Friday, in two short letters — including a four-sentence letter signed by the president that obviously took him considerably less time to review than it takes to stretch before teeing off at the first hole. The birth certificate was produced the following business day (Monday) — with the health department expressing hope that its production “will end the numerous inquiries” it had gotten over the years, which “have been disruptive to staff operations and have strained State resources.” And Obama was able to do his dog-and-pony show yesterday morning, only five days after asking the health department to produce the document.

Flash Mobs of…Bandits and Looters? In D.C., Yes.

(By Jonathon M. Seidl, The Blaze) - Last week Glenn Beck called for “flash mobs of kindness,” random acts of kindness meant to jumpstart charity across the country. And while Beck is hoping those become a trend, different types of flash mobs are running rampant throughout the nation’s capital. Flash mobs of theft and looting.

ABC 7 News in D.C. reports that around 6 pm on Monday, a group of about 20 young men entered a pricey, trendy clothing store near Dupont Circle and, without any regard or inhibitions, started sizing up the merchandise and then stole it off the shelves, racks, and tables. It was a quick and somewhat sophisticated operation, as the mob took the time to post a lookout at the front door.

The store manager says the group made off with hundreds of items worth “thousands and thousands” of dollars.

Man behind amazing Ala. tornado video speaks

University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa employee shot the video from basketball complex, says storm too big to capture fully on camera

(CBS News) -
An employee at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa was able to catch some amazing video Wednesday of a tornado that ripped through the city.

Christopher England said on "The Early Show" Thursday he shot the video at one of the safest places at the sahool -- Coleman Coliseum, the men's basketball complex.

He explained, "The bottom two levels (of the building) are on ground-level or below ground-level, and it just so happened that my office is in Coleman Coliseum, and we're all in there, and the power went out. So we had no clue what was going on. So my boss and I went up to the third floor, and we actually ran up the stairs to the third floor to kind of look out the windows to see, you know, what we could see, and as soon as we looked out of the window, we saw what you see there in the video, and it was just, I mean, it was just amazing. I mean, we just couldn't believe what we were seeing."

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - Wal-Mart's core shoppers are running out of money much faster than a year ago due to rising gasoline prices, and the retail giant is worried, CEO Mike Duke said Wednesday.

Wal-Mart shoppers, many of whom live paycheck to paycheck, typically shop in bulk at the beginning of the month when their paychecks come in.

Jimmy Carter Goes to North Korea, Accuses US of 'Human Rights Violations'

No Kim Jong Il meeting for Carter

Wrapping up his visit this week to Pyongyang, former President Jimmy Carter says relations between North Korea and South Korea are “currently at rock bottom.” Nonetheless, he said he believes the North is committed to getting talks underway.

...

Carter also used his trip to North Korea to observe the country’s food rationing system. That the United States and South Korea have chosen “to deliberately withhold food aid to the North Korean people because of political or military issues not related is really indeed a human rights violation,” he said.

Superman to renounce his U.S. citizenship

(By Allahpundit, Hot Air) - The bad news: He’s supposed to be an immortal symbol of truth, justice, and the American way. Or at least he was before that line got written out of the script in order not to offend foreign audiences. The good news: Isn’t he … an illegal alien? Since when did we start admitting people from Krypton, anyway? Ah well. More work available now for American patriots like Batman and Spider-Man.

I’m actually not sure what to make of this:

Goyer’s installment, with tense art from Miguel Sepulveda, steals the spotlight in Action Comics No. 900. When Superman drops in on an Iranian protest to stand with demonstrators in an act of nonviolent civil disobedience, the U.S. government takes him to task for acting as an instrument of national policy. Superman responds by renouncing his American citizenship and proclaiming himself a citizen of the universe…

In an age rife with immigration paranoia, it’s refreshing to see an alien refugee tell the United States that it’s as important to him as any other country on Earth — which in turn is as important to Superman as any other planet in the multiverse.

The genius of Superman is that he belongs to everyone, for the dual purposes of peace and protection. He’s above ephemeral geopolitics and nationalist concerns, a universal agent unlike any other found in pop culture.

Douglas Brinkley: ‘Blame NBC Entertainment’ For Trump’s ‘Grotesque’ Campaign Against Obama

(By Mark Joyella, Mediaite) - Douglas Brinkley, the presidential historian, said on CNN [yesterday] that the distraction of birtherism – a “ghastly scenario over the last month” he called it – is not the fault of the media, but of Donald Trump. But Brinkley took it a step further, saying “we don’t have to blame Republican Party, they’ve been quite responsible, Republican National Committee, we don’t have to blame the media for dealing with this issue. We have to blame NBC Entertainment. They need to dump Trump from his primetime news show. He’s a poison toad on the airwaves.”

Brinkley questioned advertisers who would support Trump’s 'The Apprentice', saying consumer boycotts could follow in light of the lack of substance in Trump’s birther accusations. “If you’re going to do what Trump did and go after the President of the United States in such a grotesque and disingenuous way, then you’d better cough up the goods. Today, the Obama Administration has shown what a charlatan Donald Trump really is.”

Ann Coulter To Bill O’Reilly: MSNBC, Liberals Are To Blame For Birther Media Madness

(By Alex Alvarez, Mediaite) - Ann Coulter made an appearance on 'The O’Reilly Factor' [yesterday] evening to lend her voice to the discussion of today’s big media story: “The birth certificate thing.” Host Bill O’Reilly asked Coulter whether she could put the issue in “any kind of context that matters.” Well, said Coulter, “we were right, they were wrong,” meaning that the conservative establishment has long been denouncing the “birther” movement as a distraction and a non-issue. So, then, who’s to blame for this movement blossoming under the watchful gaze of so many television sets? MSNBC, of course:

Well, it started with Hillary Clinton. It was her campaign who looked into it. And, by the way, if the Clintons couldn’t run this down, Trump wasn’t going to…

And then I think it was a lot of liberals who were pretending to be conservatives or, on MSNBC [...]

But MSNBC, there’s nothing secret about MSNBC. They cover it approximately 55 minutes of every hour. And, yeah, you didn’t hear anything about it at all on Fox News, so they were the ones promoting it, because it made conservatives look crazy.

"Atlas Shrugged" was the top-grossing limited release in its opening weekend, generating $1.7 million on 299 screens and earning a respectable $5,640 per screen. But the the box office dropped off 47% in the film's second week in release even as "Atlas Shrugged" expanded to 425 screens, and the movie seemed to hold little appeal for audiences beyond the core group of Rand fans to whom it was marketed.

Obama's Gangster Government

The president promised his union buddies that "we're gonna help our friends." Now, he's using the power of the White House to overturn decades of bankruptcy and labor law in their favor and to funnel tax money their way.

(By Chris Field, Townhall.com) -
"Imagine having a president whose life work was your work." It was September 2007, and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was challenging members of the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU) to dream the dream of owning a president -- him.

Obama, who was seeking the union's endorsement in the upcoming presidential primaries, reminded his enthusiastic crowd that the SEIU had supported him in the past: "All these folks sitting here, right here, they walked doors for me, they made phone calls for me, they turned out the vote for me!"

Months after Obama's speech, the SEIU threw $60 million and 100,000 volunteers behind Obama's election effort. The AFL-CIO nearly matched that, with $53.4 million in election spending -- enough to help put their debt-heavy union into a minor financial crisis.

But it was probably worth the price.

MSNBC's Chris Matthews: ‘I Got My Job Here Without Ever Showing Any Paperwork From School’

(By Matt Schneider, Mediaite) - The debate over whether it is legitimate to question President Obama about his birth certificate and his academic records spilled over into 'Hardball' [yesterday] as Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan hurled humorous insults at one another during a heated debate. The MSNBC colleagues clearly enjoyed the back and forth as neither seemed to shy away from revealing their true opinion about Obama’s academic credentials.

Pat Buchanan: “What I want to know is why you don’t want to see the test scores? Why don’t you want to see any of these things? You’re supposed to be a journalist – the people’s right to know!”

Homeless Mom Faces Charges for Allegedly Enrolling Child in School Illegally

Arrest of Homeless Connecticut Woman for Enrolling Son in School Illegally Sparks Debate

(By Joshua Rhett Miller, FoxNews.com) - A Connecticut mother who says she wanted to give her son a better education will be arraigned on Wednesday on charges for enrolling the 6-year-old in another town, sparking outrage and support from people nationwide.

Tanya McDowell, a 33-year-old homeless woman whose last known address was in Bridgeport, Conn, is scheduled to be arraigned on charges of larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny for allegedly stealing $15,686 from Norwalk schools. Prosecutors allege that figure is the value of her son's education at Norwalk's Brookside Elementary School between the time he was illegally enrolled in January and McDowell's arrest on April 14. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.

But Gwen Samuel, founder of the Connecticut Parents Union, an educational lobbying group, plans to hold a rally and press conference in support of McDowell in front of the state Superior Court in Norwalk at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Samuel said she wants the charges filed against McDowell to be dropped.

Tavis Smiley: This Presidential Race Will Be Most Racist in History Due to Tea Party and Trump

(By Noel Sheppard, NewsBusters.org) - Tavis Smiley on Tuesday said the upcoming presidential race is "going to be the ugliest, the nastiest, the most divisive, and the most racist in the history of this republic."

When MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell asked his guest on "The Last Word" why he thought so, the PBS host predictably blamed it all on the Tea Party and Donald Trump:

George W. Bush Jokes To George Stephanopoulos: ‘Just Because You’re Reporting It’ Doesn’t Mean It’s True

(By Matt Schneider, Mediaite) - Former President George W. Bush is going on a three-day mountain bike ride in Texas with soldiers who were wounded in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan to help raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project. He appeared with George Stephanopoulos this morning to promote the cause and seemed to be in a great mood as he playfully joked “you haven’t lost a step Stephanopoulos.”

Conservative Rep Allen West (R-FL) - “You’re Not Going to Intimidate Me”, Liberal Heckler Arrested at Townhall

(By Javier Manjarres, The Shark Tank) - Immediately after Allen West took the stage at his Town Hall meeting on Tuesday Evening in Fort Lauderdale, several hecklers who were planted in the crowd began to jeer and interrupt his remarks, forcing West to pause several times and then continue once the crowd calmed down. Police were ultimately forced to removed one of the hecklers from the event. When the hecklers refused to stop their harassment, West stated, “You’re not going to intimidate me.”

Minutes later, a woman sitting behind West’s wife , who had been acting in a disruptive and combative manner by yelling at the Congressman and even harrassing his wife, was asked to leave and was escorted out of the event by Fort Lauderdale Police. As this unidentified woman was being removed from the proceedings, she continued her tirade and used an expletive to address a police officer, which resulted in the officer arresting the woman for trespassing.

Sister, Father of NC State Wolfpack Mascot Poisoned

ELIZABETH CITY, NC (AP) — Four Tamaskan dogs with ties to North Carolina State Wolfpack mascot Tuffy have become seriously ill after eating fish laced with antifreeze that their owner says was placed on his property intentionally.

'The Daily Advance' of Elizabeth City said John Bannow of the Nixonton community saw the dogs acting strangely Sunday and found a large bowl containing fish that later was determined to be laced with antifreeze. The bowl was set in a freshly dug hole and covered in grass.

Tamaskans originated in Finland and are bred to have a wolf-like appearance.

Perusing the public record of Barack Obama’s life

(By Ed Morrissey, Hot Air) - My friend Bill Whittle of Declaration Entertainment has launched a new “Firewall” video series, this time focusing on a subject that got little in-depth attention in 2008 — the life and times of Barack Obama and his family. The Obama campaign talked often about the influence of his mother on the young Obama, and Obama himself made occasional references to his extended family, but the national media largely ignored the narrative — even though plenty of it had already been reported by Chicago newspapers or by Obama himself in his memoirs. Bill leads off with Part I of “The Enigma,” covering the formative family issues into which Obama arrived:

White House Releases Obama's Long-Form Birth Certificate

(FoxNews.com) - The White House has released President Obama's long-form birth certificate, saying the document is "proof positive" the president was born in Hawaii.

White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said the administration decided to release the full document in response to mounting questions about the president's birth. He noted that what started as Internet chatter had moved into the national political debate and ended up being discussed regularly on mainstream news outlets.

He said the president believed the matter was becoming a "distraction" from major issues.

Americans Depend More on Government Than at Any Other Time in Nation’s History

Americans depend more on federal aid than ever

(By Dennis Cauchon, USA TODAY) -
Americans depended more on government assistance in 2010 than at any other time in the nation's history, a USA TODAY analysis of federal data finds. The trend shows few signs of easing, even though the economic recovery is nearly 2 years old.

A record 18.3% of the nation's total personal income was a payment from the government for Social Security, Medicare, food stamps, unemployment benefits and other programs in 2010. Wages accounted for the lowest share of income — 51.0% — since the government began keeping track in 1929.

The income data show how fragile and government-dependent the recovery is after a recession that officially ended in June 2009.

Ed Schultz Announces His Favorite Senator Is Congress's Only Avowed Socialist: Bernie Sanders

Shocking NYC ‘Execution’ Caught on Camera

(By Jonathon M. Seidl, The Blaze) - One resident has given the Brooklyn, NY street the nickname “body-a-week avenue.” But whatever name you give it, it will now forever be stained with the blood of 24-year-old Trevonne Winn, who was gunned down on it on Saturday.

“I’ve been here since 1989,” Shakeem Muhammad, a local resident, told the 'New York Daily News'. “I think I’ve seen at least 15 murders on this block in that period of time. It’s a dangerous block.”

That was true this past weekend in what Muhammad said seems like a case of mistaken identity. A surveillance camera caught the horrific incident, which shows Winn, wearing white, standing and talking on his phone. From the curb, a man appears, points a gun, and begins firing. Winn collapses to the ground, struggles momentarily, and then goes limp:

MSNBC's 'The Ed Show': There's a Vast Right Wing Network Spreading Reagan's Ideas to Destroy Middle Class

(By Noel Sheppard, NewsBusters.org) - The paranoid propaganda coming from MSNBC much like a rabid dog is starting to foam from your TV set.

On Monday, Ed Schultz brought on a reporter from 'Mother Jones' to assist him in spreading nonsense about a "vast right wing network [that] is pumping money into states to defeat the wage earners of America and the middle class" with ideas "inspired by none other than Ronald Reagan himself":

Former Obama Adviser Van Jones Helping to Push 'Human' Rights for Mother Nature

(By George Russell, FoxNews.com) - Van Jones, the Obama administration's controversial former "green jobs czar," has found a new calling: helping to push for a new, global architecture of environmental law that would give Mother Nature the same rights status as humans.

The new movement is almost certain to be showcased at a U.N.-sponsored global summit on “sustainable development” to take place in Rio de Janeiro in May 2012, when similar issues of “global environmental governance” are a major focus of attention.

Jones is taking up the challenge as one of the newest board members of an obscure San Francisco New Age-style organization known as the Pachamama Alliance, which has been creating a global movement to make human rights for Mother Nature an international reality — complete with enforceable laws — by 2014. The Rio summit will create an important midpoint for that campaign.

House Speaker John Boehner to President Obama: 'Come on! Time to Grow Up' About Deficit and Taxes

(ABC News) - House Speaker John Boehner said President Obama needs to "grow up" in talks over deficit reduction.

During an interview with ABC News in his Ohio district today, Boehner said he personally trusts the president, but accused him of not being honest with Americans about taxes, Medicare and deficit reduction.

The topic was the bipartisan deficit commission, which was appointed by the president and issued a controversial report late last year recommending tough spending cuts, tax reforms and reforming Medicare and Social Security.

"While I didn't agree with everything they did, there was a lot in their proposal that was worth of consideration. And what did the president do? He took exactly none of his own deficit reduction commission's ideas. Not one. Come on! It's time to grow up and get serious about the problems that face our country," Boehner said.

Donald Trump claims Obama birth certificate 'missing'

(CNN) – Real estate mogul Donald Trump's latest claim about President Obama's birth certificate is that it's missing.

"Well I've been told very recently, Anderson, that the birth certificate is missing," Trump told CNN's Anderson Cooper Monday. "I've been told that it's not there or it doesn't exist. And if that's the case it's a big problem."

When asked from whom he received the information, Trump said he didn't want to say and that he feels bad about the situation.

Conservative Rep Allen West (R-FL): Liberal Women 'Neutering American Men'

Allen West: "We need you to come in and lock shields, and strengthen up the men who are going to the fight for you. To let these other women know on the other side -- these planned Parenthood women, the Code Pink women, and all of these women that have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness -- to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient. That's what we need you to do. Because if you don't, then the debt will continue to grow -- deficits will continue to grow."

MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell Slams Rush Limbaugh As Biblically Ignorant; Contorts Scripture to Paint Jesus As Socialist

(By Ken Shepherd, NewsBusters.org) - In his "Rewrite" segment last night, MSNBC's "Last Word" host Lawrence O'Donnell pounded out a 9-minute-long sermonette against conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh.

O'Donnell slammed Limbaugh as biblically illiterate, reacting to a monologue from his April 25 program in which Limbaugh complained about liberals co-opting Jesus Christ for political purposes in the federal budget debate, posing questions such as "What Would Jesus Cut" from the budget.

"What would Jesus take?" Limbaugh countered, answering "nothing." O'Donnell vehemently disagreed, going on to cite Scripture references -- divorcing them from context -- in order to argue Jesus was a fan of "progressive taxation," among other things.

(By Jonathon M. Seidl, The Blaze) - This weekend, Rev. Franklin Graham (son of Billy) shocked the media when he seemed to question the president’s place of birth, or at least wondered why the president won’t produce his birth certificate. Lawrence O’Donnell took notice, and on Monday night, he invited Graham on the program for one of his trademarked, contentious interviews.

On Letterman, Bill Maher Charges Racist ‘Tea-Baggers’ Are ‘Corporate America's Useful Idiots,’ CBS Expunges Vile Term

(By Brent Baker, NewsBusters.org) - Regurgitating the same kind of derogatory comments he regularly spews on his Friday night HBO show, Bill Maher showed up Monday night on the 'Late Show with David Letterman' where CBS, unlike HBO, excised his vile terminology for Tea Party activists.

Maher denounced Tea Party followers as “sad, unfortunate people” because they are “corporate America's useful idiots” who don’t allow “facts” to “get in that tin foil helmet.”

Then he employed his usual “tea-baggers” phrase, but CBS silenced the “baggers” so viewers heard dead air when Maher spoke that foul term:

Pat Buchanan Tells MSNBC Host Cenk Uygur: 'You’ve Got to Learn Supply and Demand as Obama Never Did in That Saul Alinsky Outfit'

(By Noel Sheppard, NewsBusters.org) - MSNBC's token conservative Pat Buchanan has really been having a lot of fun lately taking on the liberals at the so-called news network he contributes to.

On Monday's "MSNBC Live," Buchanan in the middle of a discussion about oil prices and subsidies told the host, "You’ve got to learn a little bit about supply and demand as Barack Obama never did when he was out there in that Saul Alinsky outfit in Chicago":

Arizona Gov Jan Brewer (R): Birtherism is leading America “down a path of destruction”

(By Allahpundit, Hot Air) - A squeeze of rhetorical lemon juice in the wound she inflicted on Birthers with last week’s veto. The more aggressive she is on this issue, the more intrigued I am. It’s one thing to take the Romney/Pawlenty line and say that she believes Obama was born in Hawaii, but “path to destruction” is strong medicine even by the standards of adamant anti-Birthers. When I asked last week for theories as to why she would have vetoed the bill, a few people e-mailed to say she was being sly and counting on it to pass anyway via veto-proof majority. That seems unlikely now; opposition that weak wouldn’t have produced condemnation this strong.

I don’t want to build anticipation too much but what you’re about to see 'might' be the first clip featuring a Republican to generate an Obama-esque leg thrill in Chris Matthews. Exit question: Last year she signed the immigration bill, and now this. Where exactly does that leave her on the left’s spectrum of GOP “racism”?

Obama campaign manager: Here’s our blueprint for winning reelection

(By Allahpundit, Hot Air) - It’s Jim “Punch Back Twice As Hard” Messina, explaining that all The One needs to do to secure a second term is to “build the grassroots” after having disappointed them on almost every front for two-plus years. (Compare how O’ own launch video fared on YouTube to how the GOP’s parody of it fared.) How do you build a volunteer army of young voters by pushing policies that require those same young voters to keep paying into an unsustainable entitlement system? I don’t know, but hey — they’ve still got that pretty logo going for them, and I’ll bet their next mantra-like campaign slogan is awesome. “Commitment to Change,” maybe? “Operation Enduring Hope”? Messina’s working on it, no doubt.

...

Here’s Messina urging O-bots to imagine this not as a reelection bid but as an “insurgent campaign.” Which, per the left’s new rules of rhetoric post-Tucson, presumably makes him guilty of inciting terrorism.

Union Official, Professor Teach How-to College Course in Violent Union Tactics

(By Publius, Big Government) - If you are wondering why some folks are starting to question whether a college education is worth the cost, the video below goes a long way towards explaining it. Recently, the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) sponsored two college courses: Introduction to Labor Studies and Labor Politics and Society, to be taught simultaneously through a video conference between to two campuses.

The Professors are Judy Ancel, Director of Labor Studies at UMKC and Don Giljum, business manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers at Ameren UE in St. Louis. (Bonus: he is a member of the Communist Party.)

In the class, the Professors not only advocate the occasional need for violence and industrial sabotage, they outline specific tactics that can be used. As one of our colleagues pointed out, its the matter-of-factness of it all that is so disturbing.

And yes, the schools, and the professors’ salaries, are funded by taxpayers.
