Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Is this the ugliest mugshot in the world?

(By TOM PHILLIPS, Metro.co.uk) - And to think that Americans take the mickey out of British standards of dentistry…

Meet Alan Dale Lee, the man with possibly the ugliest mugshot in the long history of bad mugshots.

The 43-year-old was arrested in Dade City, Florida, accused of aggravated assault - it's alleged that he stabbed another man in the stomach with a knife.

Lee was given the nickname 'Dracula' by the cops who arrested him, who couldn't believe how deeply wrong his mouth was.

One officer commented: 'It was hard to keep a straight face when the mugshot was taken. No-one has ever seen teeth that bad.' (An impressive deadpan use of the phrase 'straight face' from the officer, there.)

Lee is currently being held while a court date is arranged.
