Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

2008 promises to be even more depressing for conservatives than 2004. Among the top GOP contenders we keep hearing:

Rudy Giuliani -- Just what we need. Pro-homosexual, pro-choice, favors affirmative action, anti-gun. Tell me again why this guy is registered as a Republican?

Condoleeza Rice -- A female George Bush with the added benefit of being pro-choice and a fan of affirmative action. Oh stop my beating heart!

John McCain -- A Republican for Democrats. The New York TImes' favorite Republican. Need I say more?

Arnold Schwarzenegger -- Oh please. Nothing to be said.
