Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Firming Up a Notion


From the Winston-Salem Journal:


The Rock House is a 220-year-old skeleton of stacked stone precariously held together by wire and concrete pillars. In 1975, the Stokes County Historical Society bought the Rock House and about 4 acres surrounding it. Recently, the group of more than 100 members has worked to turn the area into a park.
