Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Mom, child burnt to death

I've had this feeling that Islamic "honor killings" reminded me of something. After reading this story, it came to me in a flash. These resemble very closely the activities of the Ku Klux Klan throughout the South during the 1920's through the 1950's. It took us thirty years to dis-assimilate that hateful culture. How about if we pass on assimilating yet another hateful culture? Thirty years is a long time and doubtless covers an awful lot of raped, humiliated, tortured, and murdered women and children.
