Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

The Coming Battle Over the Supreme Court

It is still being widely hinted at by the White House that Alberto Gonzalez will be Bush's pick to replace O'Connor on the high court. Gonzalez reportedly has said that the US Constitution is whatever the Supreme Court says it is. The appointment of someone with that attitude would be an unmitigated disaster.

On the one hand, it would vindicate everything I have said about Bush, although the die-hard pubbies would find some way to rationalize it away. On the other hand, I would just as soon be wrong and have a decent constructionist on the court.
