Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: High Property Taxes

The Republicans don't raise the property tax rate, they raise the value of your property. It's a trick they learned from Buster Robertson and Willis Overby. They seem to think everyone is so stupid they won't think that it is a tax increase.

The illuminati of the Stokes GOP are just as dedicated to pouring money into the black holes of Social Services, the Health Department, and the Stokes County Schools as are the Democrats. I think the difference is best summed up like this: The Democrats are the brute force muggers who simply demand money from you at the point of a gun. The Republicans are the con artists who still demand money at the point of a gun, but they also try to convince you they're not really stealing from you at the same time.
