Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Real vs. Apparent

"Why is it that actors who become president are lauded as heros, yet rock stars who do charitable work have zero credibility in the conservative book?"
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the actor actually accomplished something worthy without the fanfare, as opposed to the rock star who only appeared to accomplish something accompanied by maximum ego bloat and noise. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that liberals are more about style and appearance while conservatives are more about action and accomplishment.
