Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Let the Truth be Told

Tucker Miller opines:

This Bill O'Reilly quote might be hitting on something.

"...They call it the "Swiftboating" of Cindy Sheehan. Catchy, but totally misleading."

Mr. O'Reilly asserts that the term "swiftboating" is not an appropriate one to be used in this context because everything being said about her is true. So can we assume that Bill is admitting that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are a bunch of partisan hacks, who LIED about a decorated war veteran & that "swiftboating" would have to include deception?

"Cindy Sheehan: America has been killing people... since we first stepped on this continent."

So Ms. Sheehan is a radical lefty for telling the truth? Don't get me wrong I love my county, state, & country….but we did have to kill a few hundred million Native Americans to get it. Often times, it seems our hubris allows us to forget this little factoid. She might be a total nut (I don't know the woman) but at least she's not a liar.
