Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Chaos, Desolation Challenges Relief Effort

NEW ORLEANS — The first of nearly 25,000 refugees being sheltered at the New Orleans Superdome began to arrive in Houston, Texas, Thursday as thousands of National Guard troops poured into the Big Easy to boost security while the Gulf Coast tries to recuperate from Hurricane Katrina.
