Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Christianity, socialism, Jesus, etc...

I've been following this good debate, and I would like to make some points:

Is there anywhere in the Bible where Jesus said, "To help the poor, I want the government to be in charge of the production and distribution of goods and services"? If not, he's not a socialist. For some reason, we equate helping the poor with a socialistic form of government. Everybody wants to help the poor, but we just have different views to achieve that goal. For example, I believe the best way to help the poor is through a free-market, entrepreneur, capitalist approach, whereas liberals believe the best way to help the poor is through wealth redistribution, government control, etc. My take is that we've tried the wealth redistribution/government control approach for the past 40 years, and it's not working. So now it's time to do something different... Just my opinion. :-)
