Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Is it bad to job hop?

Dr. Wally's commentary:

Is it bad to job hop? Job hopping is good if it is done for the right reasons. After all, with downsizing, some people have been forced to job hop.

In addition to necessity, job hopping should take place when learning ceases and work becomes redundant. There is no reason for anyone with desires to be upwardly mobile to stay on a job with no learning and redundant tasks. Job hopping clearly indicates that experiences are being sought and the hopper is not risk-aversive. Organizations looking for "good people" might consider giving job hoppers serious considerations. They can add considerable value.

So, to those stuck in bad jobs or doing redundant work, job hopping may well be the key to gaining upward mobility and greater return on efforts.
