Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Walmart - Bad for America?

Some 56 percent of U.S. consumers think Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is bad for America, according to a Zogby International poll released on Thursday by one of the retailer's most vocal critics...

Everyone knows that whatever 56% of the population thinks must be true.

Zogby's polls are complete garbage, of course. He hasn't predicted a major political outcome yet. But for no apparent reason, the media continues to cite him. Could this be because Zogby's polls simply say what the anointed want to hear?

Well, yes. If 56% of Americans really think Wal-Mart is bad for America, it apparently doesn't stop them from shopping there. Wal-Mart posted a record third quarter and is giving financial guidance for a whopper of a fourth quarter.

Could it be that the anointed and their toadies in the press are simply trying to wish an "America Hates Wal-Mart" reality into existence? I expect Wal-Mart wants them to keep it up. Whatever the left is doing, it sure seems to be benefiting Wal-Mart and its stockholders.

One day, liberals will actually begin to understand the law of unintended consequences and then...

Never mind. It will never happen.
