Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Ann Coulter

Happy New Year, Steve, Andy, and B!

Commenting on Steve's response to 'RE: Kwanzaa: A Holiday From the FBI':

So do you plan to offer any substantive rebuttal of what she wrote...

No, because that's not what my post was about. My point was that Ann, in ccomparison to a real journalist, is unable to present an interesting story without it being wrapped in bluster and liberal-hate talk. In doing so, she has no real credibility and no one other than those who worship her take her work seriously. The same can be said for Michael Moore too; he could be considered bizzaro-Coulter. Both sides have 'em, I guess.

If there are any interesting ideas or facts presented in this particular story, they are overshadowded by Ann's typical shrieking about 'liberals.' Basically she just writes the same article over and over again. She probably thanks God every day for the existence of those she professes to hate; if it weren't for them, she'd be a nobody.

You call her a partisan stooge, but for what party does she stooge?

Well, since there are only two parties that have any considerable power in this country, Coulter — by default — stooges for the Republicans. Sure, I'm sure she'd like for all Republicans to be super right-wingers, but she'll settle for being a well-paid cheerleader to those who vote Republican to vote against the 'liberal' enemy — I'm sure you know a few voters like that...

She is a constitutional lawyer...

That's what pays for her Manolo Blahniks? Not these days.

and a political pundit

Yes, she is that.

her opinions are generally considered by liberals, such as yourself, to be on the far right.

Only someone on the far right would say that.
