If you say so. The crowd I "hang" with includes people from up and down the economic and educational spectrum and from the left to the right on the political scale. I would be very surprised to learn that half of them had seen more than one of the movies up for an award and I would bet real money that not more than one in ten of them had seen two. Most of the people I know aren't slavishly beholden to consume whatever "artistic" bile Hollywood has coughed up as soon as it hits the streets. I would say that is a fair cross-section of America and the Hollywood box office numbers lately tend to support that notion.
Why is Ann so sourly negative about an institution that awards and encourages filmmaking?
I don't guess she would be if we were talking about such an institution, but just now we were talking about the Oscars. I already addressed that. The "Academy" is concerned with agenda, exploitation, and profit. It has to be getting harder and harder all the time to blinker one's self to that reality, but an amazing number of people still manage it.
Yes, I'm sure she's actually seen several of the films. She's just playing up to her self-sheltered fans on the right who don't recognize that she's Hollywood, too.
Did you really mean to write this? It is an incredibly silly notion. I happen to know a little about Ann Coulter's schedule. Even if she was inclined to do so, spending two hours watching Hollywood's latest excreta isn't something she is likely to have time for. As for her self-sheltered fans, they mostly include college students from places like Yale, Harvard, and Stanford. Yep, those poor self-sheltered kids attending high-end universities wouldn't recognize Hollywood if it bit them. Please, be serious.
