Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Republican Congressman Predicts Bush Impeachment

Asked if the Democrats would use gains in the mid-term elections to set in motion impeachment proceedings against George W. Bush, Paul responded,

"I predict that would happen."
That's true, especially since John Conyers would be chairman of the House Judiciary Committee if the Democrats take control of the House.

"They're likely to pull this (ports) deal off but the American people are awakening now and I think there's going to be a payback period in the election."
DP World announced yesterday (I think) their plan of selling these leases to these terminals to American companies, so I don't know what Paul is talking about here.

Asked if the US was heading into a dictatorship, Paul responded,

"It's getting close to it, it's called usurpation of power and it's done in many ways with Congress just going along because they're sound asleep and this certainly is an attack on our Constitution and on our freedoms."
This is paranoia by Paul... We're not heading into a dictatorship.
