Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Gossip banned in some N.C. liquor stores

Odd story. There's got to be a joke here somewhere.

From today's Winston-Salem Journal:

FAYETTEVILLE — A couple of chatty employees have earned a blanket ban on wagging tongues for all 64 people who work at Cumberland County's ABC stores. Gene Webb, general manager of the county Alcoholic Beverage Control system, issued an order in February that bans gossip and threatens to fire anyone who spreads rumors on the job.
