Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Bush renews gay marriage ban call

From the BBC:

President George W Bush has again urged the US Senate to pass a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage when it debates the issue this week.


Since we all know that W. doesn't give a crap about this issue, I guess we can assume this is simply a transparent attempt to salvage his tarnished reputation among social conservatives?
