RE: Government School Mea Culpa
Okay, I hear you. But you must realize that you can't snap your fingers and suddenly do away with this institution that most every American citizen considers a given and a right. The majority of the American people just won't hear for it. Yours is an alien concept to them. Sorry.
The best thing that you can hope for is that more and more people like me approve innovative measures taken to improve the existing system while — at the same time — eliminating much of the bureaucracy and stagnant aspects of tradition within the public school system. It's a process, and — until we get to where we're going, like it or not — you and I will travel on the same path and go in the same direction. If the system is still dysfunctional once it is streamlined, refurbished, and radically approached, then maybe the average American voter would support the views you hold on public education.
I'm just afraid that it will have to get really bad before anything is done. 'Really bad' will be identified by parents becoming irate that their kids aren't learning much of anything even though they come home with fairly good grades. And I'm afraid that won't happen soon, or soon enough.
