RE: RE: Sheehan returns...
Steve: "I'm wondering why no one is demanding an end to Sheehan's "career" when she said a week earlier, almost word-for-word, the same thing that Mel Gibson said in his tirade."
Andy: Sheehan is a media darling for her attacks on Bush... If Gibson didn't make "The Passion..." and if he would bash Bush, Mel would be given a pass too. In this article I posted yesterday, read the things Jesse Jackson, Michael Moore and others have said.
What did she say a week earlier?
Anyway, to answer Steve's question, maybe it's because there was a point where Mel had quite a bit of credibility and the general public is now very disappointed in him. Regarding Sheehan, there's never really been a point where she didn't appear to have a screw (or two, or three) loose, and I really doubt that many people care what she has to say anymore. Plus, being a professional protester isn't much of a career compared to an award-winning actor and director.
On Andy's point, if the public's current opinion on Gibson has anything to do with his movie about the crucifixion of Jesus, it's mostly because he followed it with a Jew-bashing drunk tirade. As a result, his opinions are confusing, contradictory, and suddenly carry about as much weight as someone like Sheehan. It's sad.
But here, on the Bully Pulpit, is the first place I've read or heard anything about Sheehan's latest, so I guess the MSM isn't too awful enamored with her anymore. And besides, even if this story were reported on the Today Show (where, as you all must know, liberals like me get all their breaking news) I wouldn't know anyway. Thanks to Steve, I'm currently up to my neck in Rosicrucians and nearly every spare moment I have is dedicated to this damn (addictive) book he recommended.
