Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Stalin Ahmadinejad?

From co-worker & friend Jay S. Parsons:

It occurred to me that the Hezbo situation in Israel could be somewhat like that of the Polish Underground in Warsaw during the closing days of WWII. During those last days, the Red Army drove the Nazis back to the west as far as Warsaw on the western side of the Vistula River; upon reaching that point, the Red Army stopped to supply and regroup on the eastern side of the Vistula River. The Polish Underground, believing that relief of the entire city was immanent, rose up to fight the Nazi force occupying Warsaw on the western side of the river. Meanwhile, Stalin would not permit The Allies to drop supplies into Warsaw by air and he had the Red Army sit by on the other side of the river while the armed Poles, to the best of their ability, deflated through much bloodshed the Nazi units stationed within the city. The Poles, unassisted by Stalin, were eventually defeated by the Nazi occupation force after many days of fighting; thereupon, Stalin accomplished the virtual destruction of effective on site Polish military and political leadership by his delaying tactic. Once the power of the Polish Underground was depleted in Warsaw, the Red Army was able to cross the river and defeat the Nazi menace in that area; furthermore, the Red Army represented the new main military and political power in Poland at that point. While somebody else did his fighting for him, Stalin had defeated both his enemy and his competitor! Now, I wonder if the tyrant of Iran is putting into practice that Stalinesque type of tactic. Is Ahmadinejad of Iran wishfully letting his Israeli enemy and his Hezbo competitor bleed each other down to a more manageable level?
