Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Update on the Stokes Co. Voting Districts...

From a source:

Last night after three hours of discussion the resolution to allow the voters to decide on whether they wanted districting was passed 3-2. The maps were not finalized because Ron Carroll deemed them illegal and (Commissioner) Jimmy Walker flipped out. He (Carroll) would always preface it by saying that he wasn't an attorney. Walker asked Carroll for advice about as much as he asked the county attorney.

...

I still can not see why anyone would not allow this to go to the ballot?

I'm sure the citizens of Stokes County will appreciate Ron Carroll not letting them vote on whether or not to have districts... King is going to get 2 commissioners out of this deal; they need to stop complaining.
