In which Steve coughs up a hairball caused by Strother's Carter worship.
Viewed by whom?
Semites, for one. The Jerusalem Post is full of op-ed pieces decrying Carter's anti-Semitism.
...but when the opportunity arises to skewer a polite, kind Christian man with opposing, yet equally controversial opinions on an issue that they deem 'black and white'...
Wow, my BS meter pegged off scale on that one! This polite, kind Christian man is the one who said the thieving, boy-raping gangster, Yasser Arafat was a great statesman and a great man. He also said the leaders of both Iran and North Korea are sane and stable. I have to wonder if he doesn't secretly admire Herman Göring as well.
...don't you find it interesting that characters such as Ann Coulter scream from the rooftops to get a rise out of their opposition while, in comparison, a man such as Jimmy Carter seems to barely whisper?
Oh come on, Strother. Do you think BP readers are that stupid? Let's play a game of "one of these things is not like the other." Ann Coulter is a pundit with known bombastic tendencies. Everything she says is taken with the appropriate grains of salt by everyone who matters. Jimmy Carter, on the other hand, is an ex-President of the United States. When he whispers, the effect is the same as twelve Coulters shouting at the top of their lungs. What I find very interesting is the fact that Carter and Coulter seem to be getting closer to one another every day with regard to how seriously they are taken by anyone. Carter's globe-trotting while making bug-eyed lunatic left pronouncements has turned him into a walking comedy. Even satirists are hesitant to take him on since he is just as likely to top the looniest thing they can invent.
