Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Judge was disruptive, DA says

Stokes, Surry attorneys and others testify at Mark Badgett's hearing

RALEIGH

Ricky Bowman, the district attorney in Stokes and Surry counties, told the N.C. Judicial Standards Commission yesterday that he filed a complaint against District Judge Mark Badgett because he thought that Badgett's conduct had the potential to disrupt the counties' court system.

"In my mind, I was still looking for reasons not to (complain)," Bowman told the six-member commission hearing the case in Raleigh. "In my heart, I knew I had to."
