Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: An 'Inconvenient' Rebuttal to Al Gore's Global Warming Claims

OK, Strother, Algore's little charade has no other purpose than to get him invited to all the cool parties and let him show up on TV. It's obvious he isn't sincere about the whole thing because he produces more greenhouse gasses all by himself than do several small Midwestern cities. His little scam of selling indulgences...er...offsets isn't fooling anyone, either. On top of it all, and unlike Coulter's, his rhetoric appears to actually be killing people.

So how about gracing us with some of that special Strother outrage directed toward old Uncle Al? Or is it only Coulter who stirs your ire so badly? Or maybe anyone so engaged from left of center gets a pass from you. Hmmm?

I could plug in a "right" in place of the "left" in that sentence above and would probably have Steve pegged. Anyway.

I'm not an Al fan, but I'm not "outraged" by him. (BTW, I'm also not "outraged" by Coulter, either. I just think that she's pathetic, crude, bloodsucking leech on the ass of collective ‘Conservative’ thought.) To be completely honest, I’m “outraged” by very little.

RE: Al — Al kinda creeped me out on the Oscars, being all Hollywood w/ Leo DiC and friends. And sure, being the official "champion of the environment" is essentially his post-political career. Ironically, back in the ‘80s — via Tipper — Al was against Hollywood, cracking down on rock and roll with the whole BS PMRC thing; those efforts inevitably led to a mandatory sticker on the front of CDs to show kids what to buy for the most sex and drugs in their rock and roll (and rap). Great job, Mr. and Mrs. Gore!
