Fixing the Wear: Renovations to popular hiking trail at Hanging Rock nearly completed

DANBURY (Winston-Salem Journal) - Along the steep, narrow slope to the old fire tower at the top of Hanging Rock State Park's Moore's Wall Loop Trail, workers are shoveling gravel and sandstone for a new foundation for the trail.

Farther up the trail, they are using a winch to move 300- to 700-pound slabs of quartzite for steps up the mountain.

After years of planning, the renovations to a one-mile stretch of Moore's Wall Loop are nearly done.
