Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Kindley loses bid to lead N.C. GOP

The plain-spoken and sometimes controversial former chairman of the Guilford County Republican Party lost his bid to head the state GOP Saturday afternoon.

Marcus Kindley took roughly 35 percent of the votes cast during the Republican's biannual convention in Charlotte. Coming out on top was Linda Daves, a Mecklenburg County woman who has served as state party chairwoman since December.

Well, it looks like the NCGOP is still hostage to the status quo wing of the party. Too bad. I don’t know much about Kindley, but no one can deny he would have brought about change. Instead, NC Republicans have voted for business as usual. I think this will be reflected nationally as well. You are witnessing the death throes of a political party.

To be honest, there hasn't been much of a N.C. GOP party... They bicker too much to get anything done.
