Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Strother's Book Club — 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy

My cousin Thomas recommended a great book — “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy — which I went on to read and enjoy thoroughly. I won't try to describe it. Yeah, okay ... amongst other far more notable accolades, Oprah put it on her book list ... but with probably much reservation. It's dark, folks ... very dark for an Oprah audience. (My hat's off to her literary bravery.)

However, it's incredibly good, incredibly fast, and hard to put down. Best part? It'll take very little of your time — 3 to 4 evenings and you'll have it finished.

While it may be a ‘dark’ read, “The Road” effectively illustrates the good in simple faith, simple things, and children … not necessarily in that order. I urge you to check it out.
