Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Federal attorneys argue against leniency for Black's sentencing

They say he gave little help in the investigation, and question his honesty

RALEIGH (AP) -
Former N.C. House Speaker Jim Black provided little help when questioned by federal investigators after he admitted taking money from chiropractors, and he may have been less than honest, the government said yesterday in arguing against a lenient sentence for him.
