Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Not Starting With a Bang

(Fox News) - Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory is refusing to fire a starter's pistol to begin a charity road race Saturday, saying it sends the wrong message in a city that set a modern record for murders last year.

To start the race Mallory intends to blow a whistle instead.
