System hopes to stem loss of water
Danbury may be losing 62% of its supply to leaks
(Winston-Salem Journal) - The Danbury water system in Stokes County could be losing about 1.2 million gallons of water a month because of leaky pipes, town officials said. That’s 62 percent of what the system’s wells are pumping.
Spurred on by the drought that has hit North Carolina, town officials have plans to fix that. They want to find the leaks and apply for grants from the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center Inc. and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make repairs, said Byron Ellis, the town administrator.
