Dodgetown Road bridge maintenance underway
Three more county bridges scheduled for work
(The Stokes News) - On Jan. 2, the North Carolina Department of Transportation Bridge Maintenance crews began bridge maintenance on the Dodgetown Bridge over the Dan River.
During a recent inspection, areas of rust were found along the steel structure of the bridge. Though no signs of deterioration were present, crews are cutting out and replacing the affected sections, according to Ronald Joyce, supervisor with NCDOT...
...On Oct. 1, NCDOT officials closed a section of Dalton Road in King with a detour as it replaces the narrow bridge crossing over the Little Yadkin River. The now-demolished bridge will cost the state just more than $1 million and should be completed be the end of March.
Three other bridge replacement projects in Stokes County are on schedule to be awarded for Fiscal Year 2008, according to Pat Ivey, NCDOT division engineer, and are expected to cost the state nearly $6.6 million.
The bridge on N.C. 66 over Pinch Gut Creek is scheduled to be let for contract in February, and NCDOT will accept bids for the bridge replacement contract, then the following month the Board of Transportation will award the contract to the lowest bidder.
In April, bidding will begin on the project for the replacement of the bridge on N.C. 8/89 over the Dan River, then in August the bridge on N.C. 8 over Town Fork Creek will be let to contract.
