Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Edwards' role - spoiler or kingmaker?

He may determine which of his foes is nominee

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (MEDIA GENERAL NEWS SERVICE) -
John Edwards went zero for three in the first Democratic presidential primaries, and polls in South Carolina suggest that he is unlikely to pull out his first victory in Saturday’s contest.

Edwards, a former U.S. senator from North Carolina, might not make it to the White House, but his decision to continue his campaign is playing an influential role in determining which of his opponents will get the Democratic nomination, political analysts said.
