Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Not long now

I hear more and more people complaining about gas prices. I hear more people asking, "Why doesn't the government do something?" I hear more mob-think animosity directed at oil companies. It's probably just a matter of time before we see oil either outright nationalized or so heavily price and production regulated that it amounts to de facto nationalization.

Some time later, when gas is rationed and it costs $10 per gallon, versus the current $3, I wonder if these simpletons who played the victim game will be honest enough to admit they inflicted the wound on themselves.

Not bloody likely.
