Paul's backers, N.C. GOP at odds
They clash with party over number of delegates, even as candidate ends his campaign
RALEIGH (Winston-Salem Journal) - Ron Paul frequently challenged the national Republican establishment during his run for the Republican presidential nomination
He raised millions of dollars and developed a devoted following by arguing for libertarian principles and against the Iraq war.
Now some of Paul's supporters in North Carolina are clashing with the state Republican establishment. Even with news last night that Paul is formally ending his campaign, his supporters here say that the state party has denied them proper representation at the Republican National Convention in September.
