The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Teachers’ assistants get recurring salary bonus

(The Stokes News) - After months of intense efforts to balance the Stokes County School System budget, the county’s board of education finalized the budget on Monday night. The weighty issue of rewarding teachers’ assistants with a salary schedule was finally resolved in a manner that was acknowledged as a step in the right direction despite the hardships caused by a lack of funding.
