Joe the Plumber on GMA
(By Richard Baehr, American Thinker) - If you did not see Diane Sawyer interview Joe the Plumber (7:15 am central), you need to watch it here (below). This guy should be McCain's poster child. He says in one sentence all that is wrong with Obama--basically wanting to punish success--and he articulates it much better than McCain. That middle class American will not buy class warfare and singling out the "wealthy" for higher tax rates because middle America aspires to be "wealthy" and successful and does not want to be penalized once they achieve their goal. McCain should be running 30 second commercials of Joe saying that from now until election day and nothing else. This is someone middle America can relate to--standing in front of his modest home, with a shaved head. Joe the Plumber was a gift.

It sounds like Joe may have liked Steve Forbes in earlier campaigns, and for good reason. He gets to the heart of the argument with Sawyer when he talks about penalizing success, and that Americans should get treated equally. Why do we have escalating tax brackets on higher incomes at all? Why are we penalizing the success that we proclaim as the American Dream?
Democrats like to play class warfare games, but Joe isn’t having any of that. He notes that $250,000 is a mighty arbitrary figure, and nothing prevents Obama from suddenly deciding that $150,000 is the entry-level point for the wealthy, or $100,000. It’s a “slippery slope”, he tells Sawyer, and it’s socialism.
