Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Fun House

(Fox News) - A jail in Fort Worth, Texas has been shut down while authorities investigate what they call dangerous conditions for both jailers and inmates. FBI agents raided Montague County Jail last month and found that some cells could lock from the inside and others were filled with recliners. The district attorney said some surveillance camera cords had been disconnected and that some inmates made partitions to block the view into their cells. And one local TV report said pills were found in some cells.

The nearly 60 inmates have been transferred to other facilities. No one has been arrested yet. But authorities say a number of people — inmates and jailers — could be indicted.
