Bully Pulpit

Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

School projects are finally underway: Funding approved for Nancy Reynolds and Yadkin Township

(By Leslie Bray Evans, The Stokes News) - At long last, wheels are turning more quickly in the effort to reconstruct Nancy Reynolds Elementary School as well as to build a new elementary school in the Yadkin Township. At their regular meeting on Monday afternoon, Stokes County Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the proposed financial institutional bid for school projects.

This funding does not cover the actual building of the schools but does include financing for buying the necessary land, doing site development, setting up temporary mobile units, paying financing fees and having a contingency fund set aside.

At that meeting, the board of commissioners also voted unanimously to approve the purchase price for the purchase of land adjacent to Nancy Reynolds Elementary School. Chairman Leon Inman had asked to be recused from both discussions and votes due to a potential conflict of interests.
