Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

New Sites to See: Developer is sprucing up Deacon Boulevard

(Winston-Salem Journal) - Developer David Parks hopes to help revitalize Deacon Boulevard with two new restaurants and a club.

Parks, the co-owner of Goober's 52 restaurant in Mount Airy, is working with Wake Forest University to renovate three vacant buildings through his development company, Goober's Fun Dining.

He said he plans to transform what used to be The Pig, at 613 Deacon Blvd., into a second Goober's 52.
