'He's a hard nut to crack': Hammer demanded reward for latest body

CLIFTON (By Monte Mitchell, Winston-Salem Journal) - Freddie Hammer told authorities that he had killed Jimmy Blevins, shot him in the head and covered the body with debris.

But he wanted something before he would tell them where.

Blevins' family had offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to their son. Hammer wanted that money.

The request infuriated investigators.
