Rush Limbaugh's Morning Update: Food Fight
From Rush Limbaugh: Well, folks, this is just delicious. A liberal group is in a food fight with the Obama White House over skrool lunches. The lefty "nonprofit" Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine put up ads in Union Station, right across from the Capitol. Posters feature a smiling 8-year-old African-American girl with this caption: "President Obama's daughters get healthy school lunches. Why don't I?" The girl is a Miami-Dade public school student, upset there are no vegetarian lunch options for her at school.
The next day, the lib group's president, Neal Bernard, got a call from White House lawyers, demanding the posters come down. Mentioning Obama's children is forbidden, you see. White House lawyers declared that the Obama kids will not be used "as leverage." They also made clear that if the posters don't come down voluntarily, legal action could force them down.
Mr. Bernard says he sees nothing wrong with the posters. He says: "You have affluent children with access to healthy foods, and disadvantaged children have the same rights to the same kinds of healthy meals as affluent kids. And we are fighting for that fairness." He is refusing to take down the posters -- so far.
Mr. Bernard. This... is the Obama White House. So screw your First Amendment rights, screw fairness, and screw veggie burgers. Your kids can eat cake. (Or, if they're in Port St. Lucie, let them eat McNuggets.) And Mr. Bernard: watch your back. You can expect a visit from one of Obama's pet unions pretty soon. You've been warned.
