Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Bringing broadband Internet service to Stokes County: Commissioners discuss a feasibility study

(By Leslie Bray Evans, The Stokes News) - With high speed Internet becoming more and more of a staple of modern life, Stokes County lags behind much of the rest of the state with regard to broadband access. The county’s rural and often-mountainous landscape is usually cited as the reason for the lack of accessibility. Stokes County Economic Development Director Alan Wood and the Stokes County Board of Commissioners hope to change that in the near future.
