Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

NASA's new rocket lifts off on short test flight



CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) - NASA's newest rocket has blasted off on a test flight that may pave the way for a return to the moon.

After a one-day weather delay, the Ares I-X rocket rumbled away Wednesday morning from a former shuttle launch pad at Florida's Kennedy Space Center.

No people or payloads are on board.
