Rush Limbaugh's Morning Update: Lay Down...
From Rush Limbaugh: As part of their health care takeover attempt, Democrats last week found four Republicans to use as PR fodder. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson, and former Senate Majority Cavers Bill Frist and Bob Dole were, to varying degrees, supportive of "finding a compromise" with Obama and the Democrats.
Over the weekend, Obama cited the Republicans in his radio address: "These distinguished leaders understand that health insurance reform isn't a Democrat issue or a Republican issue, but an American issue," he said, claiming their support amounted to an "unprecedented consensus."
Uh, BS, folks. First of all, this isn't about "insurance reform" -- it's about taking over one-sixth of the economy -- and it's a liberal Democrat scheme that no Republican with a brain wants any part of.
More BS followed. The DNC produced an ad quoting Bob Dole saying, "we've got to do something" -- implying Dole wants the Democrat plan to pass. The ad attacked Republican leaders for "siding with the insurance companies."
That didn't sit well with Senator Dole. He called Obama's Chief of Staff, Rahm "The Ballerina" Emanuel, to complain about the use of his quote to criticize Republicans, so Rahm told the DNC to kill it.
Senator Dole. Remember that old saying, "Lay down with dogs, wake up with fleas"? Well, lay down with Democrats, wake up with sleaze. For all their combined political experience, this episode demonstrates what these four Republicans have never learned: NO compromise with liberal Democrats ever benefits Republicans... nor does it benefit America.
