Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

New Video Shows Moment Italian PM Hit with Hurled Statue



(CBC) - The attack occurred shortly after [Prime Minister Silvio] Berlusconi gave a speech to thousands of supporters from his Freedom Party around 6:30 p.m. local time. Sky TG24 TV said he was taken to a Milan hospital to be treated. Berlusconi suffered a "small fracture" of the nose, two broken teeth and an injury to the inside and outside of his lip, said Paolo Klun, chief spokesman for Milan's San Raffaele Hospital.

This whole incident must have been scary for Berlusconi; at the same time, he should probably feel lucky - it could have been a lot worse
