Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Senator: Constitution Permits Congress to Force Americans to Buy Health Insurance

CNS News: Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) told CNSNews.com that Congress has the authority to force individual Americans to buy health insurance because the U.S. Constitution “charges Congress with the health and well-being of the people.” The words “health” and “well-being” do not appear anywhere in the Constitution.

As someone who studied the Constitution in college (Political Science Major) it somewhat depresses me to see so many of our elected representatives don't have a clue what the Constitution says or what it does. Part of the oath our elected leaders swear to when they take office is to "preserve, protect & defend the Constitution." People like Sen. Lincoln shouldn't be allowed anywhere close to the levers of power.
