Bully Pulpit

Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Smoking ban in effect in Winston-Salem; restaurant owners, patrons say they'll adjust

(By Paul Garber, Winston-Salem Journal) - Frankye Mace braved temperatures in the mid-20s to smoke a Doral cigarette before entering the Omega House Family Restaurant for lunch [Saturday].

Mace said she doesn't usually smoke inside restaurants anyway, but now she doesn't have a choice. Yesterday was the first day of a statewide ban on smoking in most restaurants and bars.

"I'm pre-mealing it," said Mace with a laugh as she took the last few drags from her cigarette.
