‘Misstatement’: Transportation Sec Backtracks After Telling Toyota Owners to ‘Stop Driving’

(CNBC) - Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is clarifying his earlier statement Wednesday about telling owners of recalled Toyotas to stop driving the vehicles. The DOT now says that Toyota owners of recalled cars should take them to Toyota dealers and is not saying to stop driving them. "What I said in there, or what I thought I said was, 'if you own one of these cars, or if you're in doubt, take it to the dealer,'" LaHood replied to a question.
