The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Barney Frank Says Newt Gingrich, Media to Blame for Angrier Politics



(The Hill) - "A very self-described partisan came to office. Newt Gingrich became the speaker, and he said this was a mistake, that politics get muffled if you act like as if it's all people of goodwill disagreeing," Frank said during an appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.
